How to increase engagement on your Facebook page
When it comes to Facebook and other social media channels, it is vital that you get followers to interact and engage with your page. While you might chase after the number of followers who have “liked” your page, it is the actual interactions to and fro between you and your followers which will get your followers to love and trust your brand or your business. Once this kind of relationship is established, it is easier to convert your followers into paying customers.
Therefore, it is super important to get your followers to engage with you, to react to your posts, reply, like, share, comment…. The key to get such feedback is that your posts must trigger an emotion that will instigate your followers to react in some way: your followers will share your posts on social media if you have made them laugh or cry or touched their heart strings in some way, or if you have given them information that they believe is useful or valuable to them and to others close to them.
What are the last 10 things YOU shared on Facebook? Did they include a joke, something that warmed your heart, or maybe a story about something that you love and are passionate about?
For example, are you a cat or dog lover, are you passionate about the environment, do you love cooking? The chances are that your interests and passions will be reflected in these last 10 posts as otherwise you wouldn’t have taken the time to share.
Coming up with ideas to create material on your Facebook business page that is engaging to your audience is not that easy. Many business owners think that posts shared should always be related to their business. In reality, when creating a post, you must keep in mind that what is most important is HOW people will react to your post rather than the actual content of the post. Keep in mind that the ultimate aim of your post is to get people to take action and engage with you: liking, commenting, sharing.
Ultimately, you want them to engage with you on posts that are specifically related to your business but in the world of social media, all enqagement is good. Every time someone engages with you by sharing your post, this will show on their feed and their friends may see it and get exposed to your business and to your page. So just getting your followers to interact with you and take some form of action should be your primary aim.
You can effectively engage with your followers by asking them questions. Questions do not necessarily need to be related specifically to your business. Remember that your primary aim is to start a conversation with them and get them talking to you. And don’t forget to acknowledge ALL interactions – you should like or respond to any comments left as this is how a normal conversation works – if you do not respond, it is just a one way conversation!
